Vikram Rathour has been chosen by the Rajasthan Royals as their batting coach for the 2025 Indian Premier League. Rahul Dravid, who was announced as the IPL team’s head coach in September, will reconnect with the former opener for India.
Vikram Rathour was appointed by the Rajasthan Royals as their batting coach for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). After serving as the senior national men’s team’s batting coach till June of this year, Rathour will work with Rahul Dravid again. Weeks after Rajasthan appointed Dravid as their head coach for the forthcoming campaign, the decision was made.
Between 2021 and 2024, Vikram Rathour served as the Indian team’s assistant coach under Rahul Dravid. An important part of India’s achievements was Rathour, who helped them win the T20 World Cup earlier this year, their first International Cricket Council championship in eleven years. After his side won the World Cup, Dravid made the decision not to reapply for the head coaching post.
Rathour, a former opener for India, was appointed as the batting coach, and Rahul Dravid applauded his technical skill and composed manner.
“After spending many years working closely with Vikram, I can state with confidence that his technical proficiency, composed personality, and profound comprehension of Indian conditions make him an ideal fit in a statement, Dravid stated, “for the Royals.”
I’m excited to work with him again because we’ve developed a great rapport while leading India to significant achievements. As we work to further bolster our roster and keep constructing a world-class club here at Rajasthan Royals, his capacity to develop young talent and maximize players’ potential will be vital, he continued.
PRIVILED ACCESS TO THE ROYALS FAMILY: RATHOUR
Director of Cricket for the Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, will collaborate with Dravid and Rathour. Notably, in the IPL 2023, Sangakkara served as both Rajasthan’s coach and head coach.
Being a member of the Royal family is an honor. It’s fantastic to get the chance to collaborate with Rahul once more and this time with a young, promising cricket team. Rathour expressed his excitement about adding to the team’s vision and advancing their mission of producing elite players who can assist India and the Royals win titles.
Between 1996 and 1997, Vikram Rathour played six Test matches and seven One-Day Internationals for India. Rathour, who was a successful coach for the Indian squad, would be eager to leave his mark with the Royals.
The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals placed third in the 2024 Indian Premier League and advanced to the playoffs for the second time in three years.
