One Day World Cup 2023 – Best 11 Players and Captain

Now, since the world cup has gotten over and dust has settled, heartbeat is now normal. Let’s looks back at the world cup 2023 and the top 11 performers of the world cup and asses their performance in this recently concluded world cup.

One Day World Cup 2023

Openers:

  • Rohit Sharma – Well he has performed like a true champion and his runs plus strike rate is something to envy off. However, there has been only one debatable thing, he could not convert his 40s and 50s into bigger scores, but still he was able to give his team the start needed, and lower order was always able to build on it.
  • Quinton De Kock (Keeper) – This is absolutely no brainer as he can be the perfect foil for Rohit Sharma, first he is a left hander so, we get Right and Left combination at the top and we get players who are equally good against spin or fast bowling, so it would not matter if opposition started with Mujeeb or Bumrah.
  • Virat Kohli (Captain) – This is absolutely no brainer, the top run getter in the tournament and he is the perfect person to come if anyone from the top order fails and he can keep the momentum going.
  • Rachin Ravindra (Spin Bowler + Batsman) – Amazing young performer and he is great on every number he has played so far, but we will play him on number 4 to keep the left and right combination going and he is also good in hitting boundaries and singles as well. Against he is equally good with fast blowers and spinners.
  • Mitchell Marsh (Fast Medium Bowler + Hard Hitting Batter) – He has been good for Australia at number 3, but since we have 4 solid players on the top and couple of anchors at number 3 and 4, we can use Marsh in this team as a floater and help giving impetus during end overs, also he can pitch in with his bowling.
  • Glenn Maxwell (Finisher + Spin Bowler) – It’s hard to leave him out of the team post his spoils in the world he has been good with both ball and bat. Not just that he has played the best knock in ODI cricket ever.
  • Marco Jansen (Left Arm Fast Bowler + Hitter) – Marco though he did not have couple of good matches during semi-finals and one against India in league stage, he has been good with both ball and bat. At number 7 he is good to help score those extra 30 to 40 runs plus he is a left arm fast bowler, which is always a good luxury to have.
  • Rashid Khan – Leg spin bowler plus a handy batter in lower order, though you might have not seen a lot of wickets against his name, but his overall economy was 4.49 plus whenever he had the opportunity, he had scored some valuable runs for his team. We must keep in mind, he played most of his matches against teams which are better than his own team.
  • Mitchell Starc – Nerves like steel he has, till the knockout stage he was not in the mix of top 11, but he excelled both with bowling and batting as per the requirements of the team. Also, even if Marco we can utilize in the first 10 overs, nobody can come close to his death bowling.
  • Jasprit Bumrah – He has been amazing with both new and old ball and his partnership with Marco with the new ball and with Starc when it comes to death can keep any opposition at bay.
  • Mohammad Shami – Well, it is hard to leave him out of the team, though you can contest that Pat Cummins should be in the team against Shami, but the way Shami bowled first change and then in middle overs, it covers the requirement of our team plus he is leading wicket taker in the world cup.
  • Pat Cummins – He will be our 12th
