After some interesting retentions and some unexpected Trades, this auction is going to be even more exciting. While Gujarat Titans traded their Skipper to Mumbai Indians at a whopping amount of ₹ 15 Crore. Mumbai Indians traded the Hard-Hitting Aussie All–rounder Cameron Green to RCB for ₹ 17.2 Crores making it the biggest trade in the history of IPL.
IPL 2024 Auction
While some teams look well-balanced after the retention round, some are looking to rebuild their teams once again. With Gautam Gambhir returning to KKR his immediate effect was seen on the retention list as KKR released 12 players from the previous squad. GG is known for his legacy of building a strong unit that comprises more of an all-rounder side which has proved right for him in the Eden Gardens in the previous years.
After Kolkata, MI, RCB & DC released the 11 players each. MI & and RCB both have released the majority of their bowlers from the previous season, while DC who had a poor season have a job to do to build their squad again.
Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals
Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals have not made many changes to their squads. LSG & RR finished 3 rd & and 5 TH on the table last year. This year they are going into the auction with a Purse of 13.15 & and 14.5 Crores each which is the lowest among all the 10 teams. Both teams will look to make the most of their remaining amounts.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings the winners of IPL 2023 look equally balanced and strong as always but the retirement of Ambati Rayudu and letting go of All-rounders like Stokes and Pretorius have left some spaces open which they will need to fill in the auction. CSK has a purse of 31.4 Crores to buy and with confirmation of Dhoni playing the 16th edition of IPL will surely increase the hype again.
Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans have announced Shubman Gill as their new captain but they will look for someone who can fill the shoes of the All-rounder Hardik Pandya. GT has also released the Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka. It is obvious that with a Purse of 38.15 Crores which is also the maximum among all the franchises GT will surely look to target someone like Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, etc. in the auction.
Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad
Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad both have released 5 and 6 players each. Both had a poor outing last season finishing 8th and 10th on the table. Both teams have a handsome amount left in their purse so they can steal some big names from the auction and go with a strong side in the 16th edition of the IPL League.
