Future for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian Cricket Team: The road ahead for top two stars of Indian cricket team. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, arguably top 2 stars of Indian cricket and absolutely top 2 stars when it comes to white ball cricket apart from Sachin Tendulkar, We can easily say their records in white ball cricket cannot be beaten by anyone but Sachin Tendulkar in India, even Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly never had that much impact on the results as much as these guys over a period of 15 to 16 years, like still winning matches. People like Sehwag, Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni, though great of the game. Sehwag ironically has better record in Test cricket vis-à-vis one day internationals. Yuvraj could not perform at the same level for more than 2 series, due to various reasons, he could never keep it going it will be one amazing series but immediately he will not have same impact in the series. So, you knew if he is on song for one match, the whole series will go well, if not the whole series will run a little cold for him. Raina was never a certainty in the top 11, specially once his weakness against short pitch bowling came in fore front. When we speak about Dhoni, post initial few years like till 2011 he used to bat in top 4 post that he kept on going down, but he comes very close to top 3 people. Now let’s get back to the topic.
Future for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian Cricket Team:
Rohit Sharma and his future in Indian cricket team:
Rohit Sharma is currently aged at 36 years and though he played some breath-taking knocks in the recently concluded 2023 world cup but age his catching up with him and his fitness might also play a part in him not able to play in the next Champions Trophy 2025 (he will be 38) and next 50 over world cup he will be 40 years old. However, he might just get the last hurrah in next year’s 20 overs world cup if the IPL goes very well for him and other youngsters are not able to perform at the level, which is desired by the current set of selectors. When it comes to test match cricket, he is not doing that great and there is no dependency on him in the red ball game. We might see him announcing his retirement from international cricket post the IPL or next year’s T20 world cup.
Virat Kohli and his future in Indian cricket team:
The fittest player in the Indian cricket team and the fittest around the circle when it comes to international team, currently age being at 35 years and his top fitness, he can easily eye champions trophy and maybe play the next 50 overs world cup, again until it’s an SOS situation for T20 team, we don’t see him playing T20 cricket anymore apart from IPL. Though, he can play test match cricket easily for next 5 to 6 years.
Whatever the future holds for them, we wish two major greats of Indian cricket, best of luck.
