India vs. Bangladesh, Chennai Test: After being removed for just 6 runs in the opening innings of the Chennai Test, Virat Kohli’s comeback to the Indian team is off to the worst possible start.
In the opening innings of the Chennai Test, Virat Kohli was removed for just six runs against Bangladesh, making his comeback to the Indian Test team not exactly off to the best start. The formidable Hasan Mahmud, who had caused mayhem in the opening session of the first Test on Thursday, September 19, removed Kohli from the game.
After giving birth to his baby, Kohli missed the England Test series. However, going into the next ten Test matches against Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, he was expected to be one of India’s major performers. He had arrived to the Indian camp a week prior to the opening Test match and appeared to be in excellent form during the net sessions. But after winning the toss, Bangladesh were really in control on the first day.
With Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed swinging the ball and having the openers on the ropes, the Indian team was already under pressure. India lost Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma early on, thus the star batter was called into action. Although he had made some brilliant hits in the opening over, Kohli was again bowled out by the ball outside of his stump. As he attempted a cover drive that found its way straight to wicketkeeper Litton Das, he would receive a nick.
This was the first occasion in forty-two years that a team in Chennai chose to field first after winning the toss, and thus far, the visitors appear to have benefited from the move. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal are India’s current starters at the crease.
