During the Champions One Day Cup match between Stallions and Markhors, a Pakistani fan was spotted waving Virat Kohli’s jersey.
The admiration for star Indian batsman Virat Kohli knows no bounds, as evidenced by the fan who was spotted showing off his jersey during a Champions One Day Cup match in Pakistan. The event happened in Faisalabad during Match 4 of the championship between Babar Azam’s Stallions squad and Markhors, captained by Muhammad Rizwan.
Salman Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed, two of Markhors’ batsmen, were in the middle of Mehran Mumtaz’s 29th over in the first innings of the game. Salman ran Mehran over for a boundary on the third delivery. The moment the ball touched the boundary ropes, the camera panned out to show a fan clutching a Virat Kohli jersey among the crowd.
Additionally, many Pakistani supporters have publicly expressed their appreciation for Kohli, who has scored multiple game-winning hits against them. In one-day internationals against Pakistan, Kohli has amassed 678 runs at an average of 52.15 and a strike rate of 100.29, enough for three hundred and twenty-two half-centuries. With five fifties and an astounding average of 70.28, he has amassed 492 runs from 11 innings in T2OI. His strike rate is 123.92.
In the T20 World Cup 2022, Kohli’s greatest T20I innings came against Pakistan, as he amassed an incredible 82* (53), at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. His innings enabled India to catch up to 160, having trailed 31/4 at one point.
Pakistan fans compare Babar and Kohli
Fans of Pakistan have frequently drawn comparisons between Kohli and their great batsman Babar Azam, with the latter having smashed a few of Kohli’s records in the shortest format. The former captain of Pakistan broke Kohli’s record of 27 innings to become the fastest player to get 1000 runs in T20I in 26 innings.
Additionally, he outlasted Kohli’s 1013-day run as the world’s top-ranked batter in T20I by a staggering 1070 days. Babar, meanwhile, hasn’t played well in international cricket; in the last 16 Test innings, he hasn’t struck a half-century. But in the ongoing Champions One Day Cup, he’s been making runs for Stallions, with hits of 76 (79) and 45 (45) so far.
Though in a losing cause, as Rizwan’s stallions prevailed by 126 runs, he hit five consecutive boundaries against Shahnawaz Dahani of Markhors.
