Ten different locations in New Zealand will host the seven-day tournament.
The men’s Super Smash season of 2024–25 is scheduled to begin at the end of December with a match between the reigning champion Auckland Aces and the Northern Districs, who won the 2021–22 and 2022–23 competitions. The season opening for both divisions will be held at Hamilton’s Seddon Park, where the Northern Brave will play the Auckland Hearts in the women’s Super Smash. The men’s and women’s doubleheaders in both competitions will take place over the course of a week.
The next edition will be the first of its sort in terms of the venue of the final, which this time around is a pre-set one. The Basin Reserve in Wellington will host the Eliminator and the two finals for the men’s and women’s events. The aforementioned games are scheduled to take place one after the other.
This summer, we want to see it soar to new heights: Weenink, Scott
Scott Weenik, the CEO of New Zealand Cricket, expressed his admiration for the competition and revealed that an incredible 1.3 million Kiwis watched the event on television the previous year.
The Super Smash continues to gain popularity, and it’s fantastic that Kiwis all around the nation can still access it so easily. It’s an amazing chance to introduce our game to both new and veteran fans while enhancing the visibility of our home teams and growing talent. Weenik was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “It’s quickly becoming New Zealand’s favorite summer domestic competition, and with over 1.3 million Kiwis tuning in on TV alone last year, This summer, we want to see it soar to new heights.”
The three Twenty20 Internationals and subsequent one-day Twenty20 Tests (ODIs) of New Zealand’s men’s white-ball series versus Sri Lanka will take place concurrently with the Super Smash. The players on the women’s side, however, are expected to be available for the whole of the competition.
