On social media, a video of Imran Muhammad, an Oman D10 League lookalike who resembles Shoaib Akhtar, has gone viral.
A young person who bears a striking resemblance to former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhar has gone viral on social media. A young fast bowler named Imran Muhammad can be seen running in to bowl during a match between the Yallah Shabab Giants and the IAS Invincibles in the current Oman D10 League.
The long-haired Imran is seen running in with the same fervor as former Pakistani seamer Shoaib Akhtar, and he too acts similarly. Social media users have been talking about Imran’s video because they are amazed at how much he looks like Akhtar.
Imran has been having success in the tournament, according to the video, taking 21 wickets at an average of 10.71 and an economy of 8.65 from 14 matches. With just five victories from 15 games and 11 points overall, his side, the IAS Invincibles, is ranked second from the bottom in the points chart.
Imran, who was born and raised in Pakistan, works as a CCTV camera installer and occasionally plays cricket in Oman. People were transported back in time by his actions and appearance, recalling Akhtar.
Akhtar’s international career
Notably, during the 2003 World Cup match against England, Akhtar became the first person to break the 100 mph barrier, earning him the title of fastest bowler in the history of international cricket. In multiple unforgettable encounters, Akhar faced the renowned Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who notably dismantled him in the 2003 ODI World Cup.
With 178 wickets in Test matches and 247 in One-Day Internationals, Akhtar ranks eighth among Pakistan’s top wicket-takers in international cricket. Despite numerous scandals and injuries over his career, the Rawalpindi Express was able to etch his fiery spells in history and leave a lasting legacy.
Against New Zealand in the 2011 ODI World Cup, Akhtar made his final appearance in international cricket before being destroyed for 70 runs in nine overs. Midway through the competition, he declared his retirement, and he never played another game for his nation as Pakistan was eliminated from the competition after losing to India in the semi-final by 29 runs.
