Mohammed Siraj and Marnus Labuschagne will be important players for their respective teams in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.
Recalling their time spent together at the MRF Academy in 2015–16, Marnus Labuschagne spoke about his longstanding relationship with Mohammed Siraj.
The elite hitter from Australia stated his satisfaction with Siraj’s growth as a player since their initial encounter. In a five-match Test series, Australia and India will square off with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at stake. The final Test series India lost against Australia was in 2014–2015. By the way, that was MS Dhoni’s final Test series. In 2016–17, India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy back at home. The Asian heavyweights triumphed in the tours of 2018–19 and 2020–21 while they were in Australia. They most recently won at home in 2022–2023 again. Interestingly, these series victories have all occurred by a 2-1 score.
With several young players scheduled to travel to Australia for their debut Test match, India is going through a transitional period. After seven years, Australia will believe that this is their greatest opportunity to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy again. But the Indian squad has enough skill to defeat the current World Test Champions in Australia for the third time in a row.
India will play their first Test series at home against Bangladesh commencing on Thursday, September 19, marking their return to action after a 43-day hiatus. Australia, meanwhile, is in the UK getting ready to play England in a five-match ODI series that kicks off that same day.
