The third game of the three-match T20I series ended in a draw due to rain in Manchester.
Due to a calf injury, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler was unable to play in the T20I series against Australia. Following his appointment as captain, Phil Salt led England to victory in the second T20I after they had lost the opening game in Cardiff. The series ended on equal footing after rain forced the cancellation of the third and final match.
When asked about his first tenure as England’s captain, Salt said that it was a vastly different experience, but he had loved having more responsibility. The 28-year-old, who has scored 59 runs in two games, also made a batsman’s contribution.
Salt stated following the game, as cited by Sky Sports, “I’ve enjoyed it, it’s different, it’s the first time in an England shirt I’ve had to look at the game differently, but I’ve enjoyed the added responsibility.”
Enjoyed with the group: Salt
After England lost the opening T20I by 28 runs, Salt was overjoyed to witness an outstanding comeback in Cardiff. Liam Livingstone caused chaos in the second game by smashing 87 runs off of 47 deliveries and taking two wickets.
By three wickets, England won the match with relative ease. The England captain stated that Australia found it difficult to defend, particularly as several of their experienced pacers were unavailable, and that their prospects of winning big tournaments will improve the more time they spend together.
