Robinson’s bowling prowess is undeniable, and Butcher expressed confidence that this is not the reason the player is now out of the picture.
Mark Butcher, a former cricketer for England, has spoken out about his feelings on the decision to leave England’s Test team without bowler Ollie Robinson. Butcher revealed that a lack of trust between Robinson and management was the reason he wasn’t chosen.
Notably, Robinson has been left out of England’s impending tour to Pakistan and has not played in any of the team’s six Test matches during the home season. England will play the team starting on October 7 at Multan, to begin the series against Pakistan.
Speaking candidly about Robinson’s absence, Mark Butcher stated unequivocally that Robinson possesses the ability of a premier bowler. But in his opinion, there is no turning back now that the 30-year-old and the management have lost each other’s trust.
There’s no doubting [Robinson’s] ability as a bowler, and I’m very certain that’s not the reason he’s currently out of the picture. I believe that the management and he no longer have mutual trust. Butcher told the Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast that “the covenant of trust between those guys and the player has broken down almost irretrievably,” based on what he had heard and what he believed to be true.
The Management Would firmly Assign Him the Blame: Butcher
Butcher also emphasized how the administration would have no trouble placing all the responsibility on Robinson. He also discussed the players for England and their recent release from more authority. Ben Stokes, though, has collapsed, according to the former England cricketer, and Robinson and Brendon McCullum’s leeway.
