Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for England, has stated that he wants to stay batting higher in the order following his outstanding performance in the most recent T20I series against Australia.
All-rounder Liam Livingstone of England stated that he would like to stay in the middle order after his outstanding performance in the most recent T20I series against Australia. Notably, Livingstone’s outstanding performance with the bat and ball earned him Player of the Series honors when the third T20I in Manchester was rained off, tying the series at one.
With 124 runs in just two innings, Livingstone emerged as the series’ top scorer. In addition, he took five wickets at an economy of 6.33 and an average of 7.60. The all-rounder was happy to play a little bit more after his outstanding performance because he was able to use both the bat and the ball while certain players were out of the game.
Since some of the boys have been away, I’ve loved being a little more involved and having the opportunity to use both the bat and the ball. I’m back to loving my cricket. After the match, Livingstone remarked, “I’ve just really enjoyed my cricket. It’s been a different environment.”
He also expressed his willingness to bat wherever for the team, but he is still holding out hope that the middle order would continue to provide him opportunities after he performed well there.
My goal is to participate in the game to the fullest extent possible. It’s not something I’ve always been able to do, lowering the order. I’ve made every effort to complete it. Whenever I’m told to bat, I’ll bat there. I want to play for England as long as I can, he continued, adding that he hoped to have demonstrated that a higher ranking was better for him.
During the T20 World Cup 2024, Livingstone batted sixth and seventh, which is notable because he only managed to score 72 runs from four innings at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 146.93. Nonetheless, the right-handed batter has scored 6-7 runs at an average of 33.72 and a strike rate of 159.31 while batting at positions 4 and 5 throughout his career.
Commencing on Thursday, September 19, Livingstone will take the position of skipper Jos Buttler in the team for the ODI series against Australia. It will be Harry Brook’s first time as the team’s leader.
