Australia and India will play their first Test match of the five-match series on November 22.
Australia will defeat India in the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, which is scheduled to start on November 22. This is according to Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie. Two of Australia’s losses in the last four tournament editions have occurred on home soil. Despite this, Gillespie is optimistic that the hosts will win the series because their skilled bowling unit would be too much for the Rohit Sharma-led team to manage.
In red-ball cricket, Australia’s trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood has been outstanding. They have had a lot of success lately, including the 2023 World Test Championship victory, but they still need to win a series against India. While Cummins has never won a Test series against India, Hazlewood and Starc have been a part of winning teams.
Gillespie supported the trio to take the victory this time. Nathan Lyon’s experience as a spin wizard will also be crucial. In 129 Test matches, he has made 530 wickets for the national team and amassed impressive stats against India. Gillespie thinks Australia can turn things around this time around and feels that the quartet is the strongest bowling unit the country has to offer.
I will support them in completing the task. They are the nation’s top bowlers. Their track record, in my opinion, speaks for itself. The bowling attack that Australia can muster with this quartet is the finest on the field. For a while now, they have been playing excellent Test cricket and are currently on fire. Gillespie said Fox Cricket, “I think Australia have a chance to beat India this time around, even though they have beaten Australia recently.”
Steve Smith may have batted at four in the middle order Jason Gillespie
Steve Smith was elevated to start the innings alongside Usman Khawaja after David Warner’s retirement, however, the cricket player fell short. Except for his undefeated 91-run innings against the West Indies at the Gabba, the former captain of Australia has not accomplished much. In light of this, Gillespie predicted that he would probably be reinserted at number four in the India series.
