For the Bangladesh T20I series, Rishabh Pant may be rested, giving other wicketkeeper-batters more opportunities.
After being left out of the BCCI’s central contract earlier this year, Ishan Kishan made an incredible recovery. Because he was unavailable for the domestic season, the southpaw was demoted. But in the just finished Duleep Trophy and Buchi Babu’s preseason tournament, the wicketkeeper-batter scored a ton of runs.
A number of publications claimed that he would play in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh, given the growing discussion about his possible return to form for India. Furthermore, the upcoming Test series against New Zealand can provide a much-needed opportunity. Rishabh Pant may be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series, which would allow room for other wicketkeeper-batters, according to sources from HT.
Sanju Samson is India’s backup wicketkeeper in Pant’s absence because the latter had traveled to the West Indies for the T20 World Cup 2024. Other than Pant, Dhruv Jurel is the primary pick for Tests, and Ishan is left out of the starting XI. These scenarios prevent the 26-year-old from possibly being included in the starting lineup for the next games.
Ishan’s eyes are memorable. Irani Cup trip
Ishan has been selected for the Irani Cup 2024, where he will represent the rest of India. Lucknow will host the ROI match versus Mumbai from October 1–5. However, the T20I series against Bangladesh is scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 12.
In a T20I match against Australia in November 2023, the Bihar batter made his Indian debut. He has only participated in two Test matches, the most recent one being a July 2023 match in Port of Spain against the West Indies.
