Out of 3 predictions we had made, two came true but the last one was missed. We had said that Australia will bat first and post a big total, however, we had predicted that Australia will bat first, so they did, and they had posted a big score, which also came true, however, Australia could not defend the total. Now, before we talk about what went wrong for Australia let’s see how the match unfolded.
Australia had a very sedate start
we think they should start looking ahead of Steven Smith, because when they had come last time, Cameroon Green was opening the batting, and he really gave them flying start all the time. But Steven Smith despite all the talent he has, he is not suited for the shortest format, Australian team needs to look beyond them. Though batters coming late in the order and Josh Inglis ensued in the final 14 overs, Australia scored closed to 160 runs and which had propelled them to a big score of 200+ runs. But Australia must be ruing that in the final over, they could score only 5 runs and if they would have scored more than or around 11 to 12 runs, it would have been great for the team.
Coming to Indian team
while they won the match and batting looks quite strong on the paper at least in the sub-continent conditions. As some of the players might not do that well in fast bouncy track or seaming conditions but these conditions are quite rare when it comes to T20 matches as crowd wants to see high scoring matches. But the bowling looks thin, Arshdeep and Mukesh Kumar, both these bowlers are getting a major push from the Indian cricket board, both don’t have the skill set to be playing at the top level. Jaiswal as he always has played attacking game, he did the same and made a quick-fire 20+ run. However, what had put the match really in India favor was the innings played by Surya and Ishan Kishan, though in the start Ishan was playing a little slow but he took it to Tanveer Sanga. Surya was really in prime form and played well, however, this is not even 2nd string Australian bowling apart from we can say Tanveer looks like a good lad.
Special mention for Tanveer
though he went for runs, the way Wade was backing him and appreciating his good bowling even though he was hit for a six, and the next delivery if he went for a single or a dot ball, wade was really appreciating it. Tanveer always looked very confident, even after going for runs and he kept on flighting the ball to get more wickets. Now, this is the basic difference between Indian players and Australian players, they keep on playing their natural game and not come under pressure of performance or expectations.
