The last time the competition was conducted was in 2017.
After a 12-year break, the defending T20 World Cup champions, India, are expected to attend the Hong Kong Sixes for the first time. The renowned competition, which last took place back in 2017, is set to return this year and take place from November 1 to November 3.
The Indian squad has officially confirmed their participation, joining 11 other nations that will be represented in the next edition, according to Cricket Hong Kong.
What are the Hong Kong Sixes rules?
Legends of cricket, including Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, have participated in the Hong Kong Sixes since its first event in 1992. According to the rules, a side may field a maximum of six players for each match, which has a 45-minute duration. Every team gets five overs, and every player—aside from the glove-wearing one—must bowl an over.
Batters are required to withdraw when they get a score of 31, which is one of the most interesting rules. Retired players are allowed to bat again at a later time provided that every other player on the team has been removed. This specific directive was put in place to maximize the entertainment value for the viewers by encouraging high-scoring, fast-paced matches.
