Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said on Tuesday that Gautam Gambhir’s prior violent outbursts were usually driven by “protection of his players”.
Former Indian wicketkeeper-battler Dinesh Karthik thinks that Indian players will flourish under head coach Gautam Gambhir since the captain’s well-known aggression is often motivated by a desire to defend his team. Speaking to media on Tuesday at a Legends League Cricket event, Karthik expressed these ideas while stressing the value of Gambhir’s fiery approach and how it will help the current Indian team.
The current group of players will appreciate his aggression, which has typically been displayed in defense of his players. On the fringes of a Legends League Cricket match, Karthik said reporters that, knowing him, he is not the kind to get upset over little things. He continued, “I’m sure he’ll have his turn to speak strongly to whoever needs to hear it, and it’s in his best interest to get the best out of the players.”
Although Gambhir’s fiery temperament has been a defining characteristic of both his playing and coaching careers, Karthik pointed out that Gambhir’s zeal is deliberate and meant to further the goals of the squad. With India playing Bangladesh in a series that begins on Thursday, Gambhir will be commencing his maiden Test series as head coach. Despite having coached in several T20 competitions, this will be his first test in the lengthier format. While acknowledging that Gambhir might be thinking about his lack of experience, Karthik voiced confidence in his abilities to overcome the obstacles.
He has taken part in a lot of T20 competitions. However, as a coach, this Test series will be entirely new for him, thus Karthik stated that it must be on his mind in the background. “He is an experienced navigator of challenging waters. As a coach, having the ability to sense the pulse of the game is crucial, and he possesses this expertise. He is still very early in his coaching career, so it will be interesting to watch how it plays out. Nonetheless, I am sure he will succeed in every way. Karthik continued, “So far, it has worked well for him.”
BANGLADESH CHALLENGE
With immense confidence following their historic 2-0 series victory over Pakistan, India will take on Bangladesh in their first Test match under skipper Virat Kohli. But Karthik cautioned that playing in India would provide a new kind of difficulty for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will launch it with a great deal of confidence. He stated that (for India) it is important to realize that they are facing a somewhat different Bangladeshi team.
However, India itself is a quite different story. It will not be nearly as easy as going outside and conquering other countries on their soil.
Several teams have visited India and found it to be difficult; in the coming weeks, Bangladesh will likewise have difficulties, he added. He pointed out that India is a strong opponent, especially at home, because of their depth of talent and home advantage.
BORDER-GAVASKAR TROPHY
Karthik expected a fierce match for India’s next Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, which will begin in Perth on November 22. He recognized the strength of the Australian team, who are now enjoying success after their victory in the World Test Championship.
For India, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will present a challenge. At the moment, the Australian team is cohesive and plays well together. At the moment, the Australian team is cohesive and plays well together. Their victory in the World Test Championship is no coincidence, Karthik stated.
Karthik believes that India’s renowned hard work and determination will make for an intriguing series despite Australia’s strength. India will face challenges, but considering their resilience, it will be an amazing series to witness.
