Najmul Hossain Ruled Out Due to Injury
Before the final confrontation opposite Afghanistan on Monday, November 11, those in charge of the Bangladeshi team received bad news regarding the availability of Najmul Hossain, who was ruled out due to a groin strain. This was a disappointment for the team in preparation for this important confrontation.
In more general terms, this injury is considered to last no less than a further two weeks and Najmul is therefore not likely to be fit for the first Test match against the West Indies, which will be played on the 22nd of November. Such a period required for recovery does match and even raise worries over Najmul’s presence in the series.
Mehidy Hasan Steps Up as Captain for Final Match
Mehidy Hasan took over as team captain when Najmul was forced to leave the field at one point due to an injury he got while fielding in the second game. Due to a groin injury, Najmul will not be playing in the final game against Afghanistan, BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain reported on Monday.
With a knock of 76 in the second game, Najmul played a crucial role in Bangladesh tying the series. The medical team will determine whether Najmul will accompany the team to the West Indies or go back home for more evaluation, according to a second official.
We must now decide whether Najmul should return for rehabilitation or travel to the West Indies with the team, as he is unlikely to be available for the opening Test match against them. “The decision will be made by our medical team,” an official said.

In addition to leading Bangladesh in the third match against Afghanistan, Mehidy is anticipated to captain the Test team in the West Indies while Najmul is out. Mushfiqur Rahim is already out for Bangladesh in the current ODI series, and the veteran will not be included in the Test team to play in the Caribbean.
