At Lord’s, England defeated Australia by a stunning 186 runs in the fourth ODI. Ben Duckett opened the proceedings with a half-century, and captain Harry Brook responded with an aggressive style of cricket, smashing 87 off 58 deliveries. Liam Livingstone caused mayhem at the conclusion of the innings, which was reduced to 39 overs due to rain, smashing an undefeated 62 runs in 27 deliveries.
During his brilliant innings, he scored 28 runs in Mitchell Starc’s last over. England amassed a huge 312 runs thanks to Livingstone’s dominance towards the end of the first innings. Seven of Australia’s batsmen failed to score in double figures, demonstrating a lack of grit in the chase. The series is now locked at 2-2 after they suffered a terrible loss.
England captain Brook lavished appreciation on his teammates following the victory. He praised Livingstone’s finish and Duckett’s outstanding hit up in the order, as well as the bowlers’ effort. Notably, Brydon Carse claimed three wickets, Jorfra Archer claimed two, and Matthew Potts claimed four. In the fourth ODI, Brook was pleased with his performance as well.
The positives and momentum we gained from the first two games were carried over to the final two games. We all know how good Ducky (Duckett) is because he’s so tough to bowl to up top. As stated by Brook in the post-match remarks, “We know what Livi (Livingstone) is capable of at the back end and he showed it beautifully tonight.”
The bowlers from England bowled brilliantly. We were a little too many over par on a tricky track, but they bowled wonderfully, hit the lengths beautifully, and they were rewarded. With some swing and seam movement, he (Jofra Archer) bowled quickly tonight as well, which was entertaining to watch. I hope that in the future, we will witness more of it.. He continued, “It’s always nice to be scoring runs; when you are playing well, you think a little bit more clearly.”
