First-Test between India and Bangladesh: All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has disclosed that he is influenced by the batting of Ravindra Jadeja. Against Bangladesh, the dup put up 199 runs for the seventh wicket.
Prominent Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has said that he gets ideas for his batting from Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, in the opening innings of the current Test match between India and Bangladesh, Ashwin and Jadeja both saved the day by engaging in a huge 199-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
After that, Ashwin scored his sixth century in a Test match with a spectacular 113 (133). Jadeja, on the other hand, struck 86 (124) as the two players guided India, who were left faltering at 144/6, to a respectable score of 376. As they began their special collaboration, Ashwin praised Jadeja’s batting ability and mentioned his amazing first-class record, which includes three triple hundreds.
Over the years, Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) has inspired me with his batting alone. I’ve been inspired by the way he’s controlled his game, maintained consistency, and had excellent strategies. In a video published by the BCCI, Ashwin stated, “He’s always been a great batter; he’s scored triple hundreds in first class cricket. Even though it will be extremely difficult for me to duplicate, that is the only real way I can try.
Speaking before of time, Ashwin also disclosed that his father, who was present for his batting on Day 1, congratulated him on his outstanding hit. The 38-year-old added that he was in the zone when he batted and that it wasn’t until he returned to the pavilion that he realized how successful he had been.
India leads after the second day.
Yesterday, my father was ecstatic. He was really thrilled, although I’m not sure for what reason. That’s one of the better knocks I’ve seen you give, he commented, along with other things. It wasn’t until I went back and saw some of the video footage that it really hit home for me. It failed to register. I believe it was a typical example of me being fully present and in the zone. He continued, “I’ve been in such zones on a few occasions in the last 101 Test matches.”
In the meantime, India has bundled out Bangladesh for 149 runs, and they are leading by 308 runs in the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah also had a great day with the ball for India, recording figures of 4/50, while Jadeja scored 2/19. On Day 3, India will resume their innings at 81/3 with Rishabh Pant (12*) and Shubman Gill (33*) at the wicket.
