The Indian cricket team is set to return to action after an extended break, with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19. India’s last appearance was in a white-ball series against Sri Lanka, followed by a break of more than a month. In preparation for the series, the BCCI has organized a camp for the Indian cricket team from September 13 to 18 in Chennai.
According to reports, 21-year-old Mumbai spinner Himanshu Singh has been called up for the camp. Himanshu, who has a bowling action similar to Ravichandran Ashwin, was included to help Indian batters prepare for Bangladesh’s spin attack. Standing at six foot four inches tall, Himanshu’s progress has been closely followed by selectors, and they were impressed with his skills.
A source mentioned that all selected players for the camp have been instructed to report to Chennai by September 12. Players involved in the Duleep Trophy will join after completing their first match.
As India prepares for the series, star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal praised Bangladesh’s recent performances. He acknowledged that Bangladesh has been playing well, including their recent whitewash of Pakistan in a two-match Test series. The Bengal Tigers secured a commanding 10-wicket win in the first match and a six-wicket victory in the second.
Speaking about the upcoming challenge, Jaiswal expressed excitement about playing against Bangladesh. He stated that it will be fun to play Test matches and he looks forward to the competition. He also mentioned that he focuses on preparing well and improving himself as a player, aiming to maintain consistency in his game.
The Test series against Bangladesh promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams in strong form.
