Among the batters he would love to bowl against in an international cricket match is star batsman Virat Kohli, according to legendary West Indies fast bowler Curtly Ambrose.
Curtly Ambrose, the legendary fast bowler from the West Indies, named top Indian batsman Virat Kohli as one of the players from the current generation he would love to bowl against. Impressively, Ambrose is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in history, having taken 630 wickets in his international career, 405 of which were in Test matches at an average of just 20.99.
Ambrose recently revealed the best players from the current generation he would love to bowl against, having disturbed several notable figures from his period. The great speedster mentioned three players he would love to face with the ball: England’s Joe Root, Australian batting star Steve Smith, and the renowned trio of Kohli.
“Virat, Smith, Root,” ANI cited Ambrose as saying.
Notably, since making their debuts in international cricket, Smith, Root, and Kohli have grown in stature and become the top hitters in their respective nations. While Root and Smith amassed a ton of runs in Test cricket and are still formidable forces in red ball cricket, Kohli made history with the most ODI hundreds to his name and is the T20 World Cup’s top run scorer.
One of my favorite fast bowlers is Wasim Akram: Ambrose
Ambrose went on to say that when someone selects their favorite cricket player, batsmen tend to take precedence over bowlers. In addition, he declared that he would always respond with the name of a bowler when someone asked him who his favorite cricket player was, naming Pakistani great Wasim Akram as one of them.
Yes, I do feel that way occasionally. I have played cricket for a very long time. When someone is asked who their favorite cricket player is, they usually name a batter. They are people I admire and with whom I have played some excellent matches. I will, however, err on the side of the bowlers because I was once a fast bowler. He further on, “One of my favorite fast bowlers is Wasim Akram.”
Notably, with 916 wickets overall—502 in 356 ODIs and 414 in 104 Tests—Akram is ranked sixth on the list of all-time international cricket wicket takers.
