South Africa vs India 1st ODI Preview
After the T20 series ended in a dar both teams were ready to play the longer format of 50 overs. This will be the first time both these teams will play an ODI Match after the 2033 OFI World Cup. Both South Africa and India were defeated by the mighty Aussies in the semi-finals and Finals respectively.
The first ODI will be played at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg where the final T20 was played. Usually, this venue is considered a batting paradise but in the previous match, we saw the spinning a lot which eventually trapped the South African batters.
Looking at the squads – Indian Team management has named a young squad with some new names joining the team. KL Rahul has been named as the captain of the team. Shreyas Iyer, Rajat Patidar, and Tilak Varma might be seen as the top-order batters while Samson, Rahul, and Rinku could be the ones seen playing in the middle order. Axar Patel should walk into the playing 11 as the first-choice All-Rounder. In Mukesh, Arshdeep, Avesh, and Kuldeep Yadav might feature as the first-pick bowlers.

South Africa has also announced a squad that has a mix of old and new names. The batting looks solid with Hendricks, Markram, and Russie at the top. Klassen and Miller will continue their roles of playing in the middle order. Shamsi and Maharaj both might get a game after looking at the amount of turns received in the previous game. The pace department is expected to be led by Lizard Williams who will be followed by Burger and Wiaan Mulder.

Currently India Team can be seen as a bit of a favourite among the odds and with some inexperienced Bowling lineup of South Africa Indian batters might take advantage. The experiences of Rahul and Iyer will surely help the youngsters who will be playing ODI first time. All these new players will look to cement their positions in the Indian Team. It will be important for Markram to do a good job as he will be leading the team after Bavuma has been dropped as Captain.
